Let's Scrap Sarah

My latest Sarah Hurley project, the challenge is "MUM's the word", you can enter the challenge over at Sarah Hurley's Challenge Blog. Window cards are one of my new favorite thing to create, so I started with a 6 x 6 card base made from some pretty red paper. I knew I would be putting a large print onto this card so I chose a subtle print for my base.

After trimming out a 4.5 x 4.5 square from the card front I inked the entire card as well as the 5 x 5 center square. Normally I would be using distress inks, but I wanted a more chocolate tone to my brown so I chose my studio G small square instead.

I had originally planned to add that pretty sparkly brown ribbon, but in the end it just didn't fit in, same with the bright green circle. That pretty red shape is from a Papertrey Ink limitless layers set.

I absolutely LOVE my cheapo Staples glitter pens, they last forever and the colors dry fast. I randomly filled in some of the apples on these trees with the red and traced the wood grain lines on the tree trunks with the pearlized brown. The doodles for the leaves are the brush end of my marker, you can do this same technique with Copics, but I am a scrapper on a budget and I don't have any yet.

After adhering the big green circle to the front of the card I stitched a few lines over the ribbon and pop dotted the other elements after inking them.

Like a fool I waited until the whole card to be done before adding my handwritten elements so they are a little wobbly. I keep saying to myself, DO THAT FIRST... someday I will start taking my own advice.
