I am not a fan of horror movies.

I squirm.

I cover my eyes.

I scream out loud.

I have nightmares for weeks, playing out every possible scenario of my death.

I do however LOVE playing Call of Duty Zombie Maps.

I don’t know how to explain what is different between a video game and a movie, maybe the fact that I am in control of my character, usually heavily armed? Maybe it’s the lack of blood and gore (except a little on the zombie’s part)?



Whatever it is I am seriously addicted. I can’t count the amount of hours I have spent learning maps, creating strategies, and practicing. All of which are done into the wee hours of the morning, when I should be sleeping. All of which are shared with my husband who turned me on to video games in the first place (thank you for that dear).

The newest map pack is due out tomorrow, for those of you who don’t know, with each Call of Duty game (that features Zombie maps, released by Treyarch) there are usually 3 map packs, they are extra downloadable content you add to your hard drive to play.

The best part of the zombie maps (for me) is that they have a story line completely separate from the actual game (which is boring and I don’t really like playing). There are secrets, glitches, ‘easter eggs’, leaderboards, surprise weapons and the latest installment even features George Romero, all in a way that made sense with the overall mystery shrouding the four main zombie characters. The story line has gone from barely there in World at War to a deeply entangled plot line with better character development and mystery than many book series’ I’ve read. There are a ton of websites devoted to Call of Duty zombies, but there is a great Wiki that catalogues the characters and everything we know about what they know HERE.

The point of telling you all this (to make a long story long) is that with World at War, there were 3 map packs.This latest map pack (Annihilation) marks the 3rd map pack for Black Ops, which means there will likely be no more for Black Ops, which means that we will have another long, long wait to see the next part of the story. It’s like reading a series of REALLY good books and having to wait for them to be published one agonizing cliffhanger after another.

On the other hand (and this is really my fear) they could end the story with this map, it could be the last stand for our zombie killing friends.

I just got a little misty.

So, I beg of thee dear Treyarch, please, please don’t stop now!

Many a late night has been filled with laughter (and at times frustration) due to your work of genius.

Many a new friend has been made while slaying armies of the undead.

Many a deep conversation about strategy and teamwork has been shared by husbands, wives and children with your aid.

Thank you Treyarch for everything you have brought into our lives, I really hope that it doesn’t end tomorrow.

Off my game.

Today
... I was late to work
... it rained ALL DAY
... I felt frantically behind from the moment I woke up
... I accidentally made my 12 year old cry (bad mommy moment to be shared at another time)
... I cried for about 45 minutes
... I visited a friend I had missed last weekend and laughed while our kids played
... My husband won his softball games
... I killed 197 zombies in 3 games of Call of Duty Black Ops (for those of you who don't play, THAT IS REALLY BAD). I am not usually that bad, I blame it on the crying.
... My 2 YO smiled at me and put her cute hands on both sides of my face and gave me a SERIOUS LOOK and said "Mommy, I have poop in my butt" and of course I laughed even as I was silently SCREAMING use the potty already!
... My car almost ran out of gas because I stupidly left the house without my debit card
... My sheets were changed


I am having an off day, here's to hoping that tomorrow will be better.

Ladies and Gentlemen its time to kill some zombies.

Those of you who know me know, I am in love with Call of Duty Zombie Maps. Since the very beginning in World at War I was hooked. The newest map pack is coming out tomorrow and I have to say it looks EPIC.

To all the moms tisking me I say poo poo, I'm a mom too.
To all the 12 - 18 YO kids out there who think they're all that, I say HA, my boys and I will kick your butt!
To my 2 YO I promise to feed you and wipe your butt, but PLEASE do not get in front of the TV while I am mid-round.
To any other COD players who want to catch a game on xbox live my GT is kiwivandal if my party is not full I will happily play with anyone over the age of 21 (I have a bit of a potty mouth)

Reviewing the stats getting ready for First Strike

Ok, so in a few short hours I will be downloading the first DLC content for Black Ops. I have had a love / hate relationship with this game, on one hand I love killing Zombies, on the other I hate the campaign. So I, like many of my friends skipped the campaign and unlocked the "Five Map" using the computer. "But Siobhan you lost an achievement!" Bah! Crap on achievements, I am a firm believer that gamerscore is crap. I don't play a ton of shitty games that I suck at to boost a score I don't care about. Want to hear some stats I do care about?

Right Now:
- I have 4 friends online (everyone else is sleeping and getting ready for the release in 4 hours ET)
- Kino rounds: 30 w/ 2
- Five rounds: 23 w /2
No I did not have to look those up, the leaderboards are burned in my brain
- I have 1 bag of M & M's and a case of Mountain Dew waiting to be opened when my DLC download
- 1 carpool rescheduled so I wouldn't have to leave the house to take the 11 YO to school
- 10 meals pre made so I don't have to leave my deck to feed my beautiful children
- 3 blog posts prewritten so I don't have to think about anything but ANNIHILATING ZOMBIES on Ascension for teh next 3 days.
PS we are getting 14 inches of snow tomorrow, and over the next three days it should be up to 20 inches. Could this have come at a better time? I think not. I feel a marathon coming on! In Other News...

I feel like a train wreck today. So tired, and it's all my own fault (as usual). I decided a long time ago that I would be attending the midnight release party at Gamestop for Modern Warfare 2 and that's exactly what I did until 12:30, then the long drive home. Was it worth it? YES, and I glad there are no Call of Duty games coming out that will require me to stay up WAY past my bedtime anytime soon? YES.
The party was great. There were prizes, and excitement, and costumes. I wish I had remembered my camera, I thought about it before I left but as I neared the exit to Littleton, NH I realized I forgot it on the table. Ah Well, any of you who are gamer friends were there yourself somewher in the country waiting just like me, and those of you who aren't could imagine something close to teh Harry Potter craze maybe.

I got my latest Etsy find in the mail yesterday and my new Creating Keepsakes magazine too.. I have a feeling I will be very busy over the next few days, it was a bit like Christmas, without the obnoxious carols.
